Top Outdoor Venues in New York City
Throughout the years, I’ve always gravitated towards designing and planning celebrations set amongst gardens, museums and historical landmarks. When at all possible, opting for locations that incorporate elements of nature and lucky for us, there are quite a few spaces that fit the bill right here in New York City. With the arrival of spring, I’m excited to share with you some of my favorite outdoor venues ideal for both social and corporate entertaining!
Founded in 1891 and now a National Historic Landmark, the New York Botanical Garden is an iconic living museum and one of the greatest botanical gardens in the world. With two breathtaking spaces to select from, you just can’t go wrong hosting your next event at NYBG where Mileen Zarin Events is honored to be a preferred planner.
Overlooking St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Fifth Avenue, 620 Loft & Garden is an extraordinary loft space and expertly manicured rooftop garden located within Rockefeller Center. It’s a striking setting for corporate gatherings as well as weddings or other milestone events!
With a history dating back to 1817, Chelsea Square was built to house the General Theological Seminary and has been the backdrop to some of New York’s most memorable events. Located in Chelsea, the stunning brick and stone buildings are surrounded by lush private gardens, creating a beautiful oasis in the heart of the city.
Located off Park Avenue in the Upper East Side, the Astor House is a five-story Neo-Classic style townhouse with capacity for up to 350 guests, featuring 10 private event spaces and an outdoor garden. Designated a landmark in 1967, the Astor House is a timeless venue with both traditional details and modern amenities.
Tavern on the Green is an iconic, landmark restaurant nestled in the heart of Central Park. Built as a sheep fold in the 1880’s to house the sheep that grazed the park, it was transformed to a restaurant in 1934. The restaurant offers a variety of indoor and outdoor spaces to accommodate gatherings for 20 to 1,500 guests combining elements of their recent renovation with it’s storied history.
Situated inside Carnegie Mansion, Cooper Hewitt is a dynamic and dramatic setting for gatherings of all sizes. Their newly restored garden offers a range of color and texture for seasonal interest, sophisticated lighting design, and an inviting green lawn for outdoor entertaining. The space can be tented and offers tremendous flexibility for up to 1,000 guests.
